Foundation aims to raise $1 million for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Foundation Beyond Belief is proud to announce an initiative to raise $1 million for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) this year through its popular Light The Night Walk fundraising program.

“This is one of the biggest giving efforts of its kind in the history of our movement,” said humanist philanthropist Todd Stiefel, director of the project. “Our goal is to improve the lives of countless cancer patients and their families while demonstrating that freethinkers are a legitimate force for good in the world.”

Local freethought groups are invited to join this campaign by forming local Light The Night teams under the Foundation’s banner. Groups in the U.S. or Canada can join an existing walk site on our international team page. (Read the important Quick Start Guide here). Groups outside the U.S. or Canada or not near an existing walk site may contact Breanna Baer to register. And if you aren’t a member of a group or live far from a walk, you can join the FBB virtual walker team or donate directly to our team.

OUR ALLIES: We are proud to welcome the following organizations as allies in this effort: American Atheists, American Humanist Association, Atheist Alliance of America, Camp Quest, Center For Inquiry, Centre for Inquiry Canada, Freedom from Religion Foundation, Harvard Humanist Chaplaincy & Alumni, Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers, Secular Student Alliance, and United Coalition of Reason.

OUR HONORED HERO: The FBB team has chosen Christopher Hitchens, who died last year from complications of esophageal cancer, as our Honored Hero for this drive.

THE BIG MATCH! Todd Stiefel and his family have pledged to match dollar-for-dollar the first $500,000 raised by local teams organized under the Foundation Beyond Belief banner. FBB is grateful for Todd’s skilled leadership and extraordinary generosity.
