Hemant Mehta on Identifying Oneself as an Atheist

Below is an excellent interview with Hemant Mehta, chair of the Secular Student Alliance Board of Directors, author of “I Sold my Soul on eBay” and blog “Friendly Atheist.”

This interview, which as been around awhile, is part of a documentary on atheism by Gregory Walsh.

I completely agree with Hemant’s philosophy that one of the most important things we can do as atheists is to tell people, when it comes up, that we don’t believe in god.

It’s really not necessary or even sensible to go around announcing one is an atheist to everyone one knows or meets but if it comes up in conversation, I do feel it is very important that one express his or her non-belief.
