“I’ll just say this: in my opinion Fux News is a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue.
I sincerely believe that in time, good people will lose patience with the petty and poisonous behavior of these bullies and Fux News will be remembered as nothing more than a giant culture fart that no amount of Garlique could cure.”
— Jim Carrey, In response to FUX News response to Cold Dead Hand
I haven’t really invested that much time studying the gun control debate but I’ve followed the antics of Fux News long enough to agree with Jim’s statement above.

Andrew Cuomo, Michael Bloomberg and Chris Christie show that once you remove partisan gamesmanship from a situation, government performance improves dramatically.

FOX “news” host Laura Ingraham tells David Silverman, he doesn’t understand that people of faith feel like “second-class citizens” under the Obama administration.

Seriously? What a warped sense of reality these people at FOX have!

On a side not, 54 percent of respondents to a new Gallup Poll said they would vote for an atheist president, compared to 43 percent who said they would not.

Could America be getting less bigoted? Let’s hope so.

Deepak Chopra apologizes to Richard Dawkins for comments on Bill O’Reilly.

via @michaelshermer

This was a well deserved apology and I commend Deepak for owning-up to his bullshit for a change. To bad he didn’t make it on Fox “News” but O’Reilly probably wouldn’t have allowed it.

Oh the horror, President Obama offends Christians by not mentioning the almighty in his thanksgiving address.

I wonder how long it will take the President to apologize for what his press secretary will probably call an oversight. The fundies are really letting loose on this obviously anti-Obama Fox “news” piece posted below.

President Obama did not include any reference to God during his weekly address titled, “On Thanksgiving, Grateful for the Men and Women Who Defend Our Country.”

His remarks were void of any religious references although Thanksgiving is a holiday traditionally steeped in giving thanks and praise to God.

The president said his family was “reflecting on how truly lucky we truly are.”

For many Americans, though, Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on how blessed and thankful they are.

The president said the “most American of blessings” is the “chance to determine our own destiny.”

He called the very first Thanksgiving a “celebration of community”

“We’re also grateful for the Americans who are taking time out of their holiday to serve in soup kitchens and shelters, making sure their neighbors have a hot meal and a place to stay,” he said. “This sense of mutual responsibility – the idea that I am my brother’s keeper; that I am my sister’s keeper – has always been a part of what makes our country special.”

The president said that belief is “one of the reasons the Thanksgiving tradition has endured.”

But nowhere in the 11-paragraph address does he mention the Almighty.

Bill O’Reilly Still Believes That Jesus Guided Evolution & Atheists Suck

Despite science having determined that gravity causes tides, Bill O’Reilly believes that it’s really Jesus who is pushing all that water. Despite science having provided us with a plethora of evidence that supports evolution, Bill O’Reilly believes that Jesus “guided” evolution and that “intelligent design,” which is repackaged creationism, is the real deal. Despite his history of an accusation of sexual harassment, lies, voyeurism, and personal attacks, Bill O’Reilly presents as a devout Catholic who sees “Judeo-Christianity” as a “restraining” force for the good of society. And as a product of a 50’s Catholic educational system which taught that “non-Catholics” were going to a hell that had a special place for commies and atheists, Bill O’Reilly has some big time fear and loathing of atheists like Richard Dawkins who occasionally stops by the Factor so that Bill can burnish his Christian creds by scoring an imaginary intellectual victory over the forces of atheistic evil. On last night’s Factor, Bill touched on all the aforementioned memes in his discussion of Dawkin’s newest book. Contrary to the Fox Nation headline, O’Reilly didn’t “crush” Dawkins. In fact, he, once again, showed himself to be a true intellectual lightweight and poster boy for the anti-science right wing who, one assumes, are a major component of the Fox “News” audience and whose views are living proof of Neanderthals among us.

Tool Time: Good Christians Threaten Atheist

FOX News was covering the story of the legal battle over a large cross being placed at the Ground Zero Memorial in New York. After Blair Scott, the communications director for American Atheists appeared on air he started getting death threats. He was quoted on the American Atheist blog saying he can always tell when someone from the group is on FOX News because his inbox explodes with hate e-mail. Over at the Fox News Facebook Page irate “Christians” didn’t like the interview either. Take a look here.

Looks like these “well meaning” believers showed up to the YouTube clip to threaten the young lady hosting “Tool Time” as well.

Christians Openly Advocate Killing Atheists on FOX News Facebook Page

I haven’t been online much in the last week so I’m just now seeing this. As a friend said on our SEAFA page, “Leave it to that damn Blair Scott of American Atheists to provoke such loving and compassionate people.”

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
